Timothy Eugene Acklin ATC

Tim Acklin earned his Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from the University of New Mexico in 1982. He then attended New Mexico State University where he pursued teaching and earned his science endorsement. As a member of RMATA since 1980, Tim has served on numerous committees including: the Convention committee (1996-1998), the Student Athletic Training Committee (2002-2004) and the New Mexico Board of Directors (2006-2012). Prior to Tim’s retirement in 2017, he worked as an Athletic Trainer at Del Valle PT, but spent much of his career as a science instructor and Head Athletic Trainer at Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. His experiences with crisis intervention management and emergency management have brought a new perspectives to members of the Athletic Training community and allowed for proper care for large events. When asked why he chose the Athletic Training Profession, Tim responded “I love medicine and I love sports; this is the best place to put everything together.” Tim is married to his wife, Jonann, and has three children: Heather, Courtney and Dustin.
