Michael Eric Nesbitt AT
Michael Nesbitt earned his BA in Physical Education from Idaho State University in 1968. He continued on to earn his Master of Science in Athletic Training from Indiana State University in 1969, at which time he took the Head Athletic Trainer position at Southwest Minnesota State College. He spent the remainder of his career at Northern Arizona University as the Head Athletic Trainer and Tenured Associate Professor of Athletic Training Education, where he retired in 2006. Mike has volunteered on numerous medical associations promoting sports medicine and served on many committees and Board assignments within AZATA, RMATA and NATA; Nesbitt served on the NATA Board of Directors from 1986-1992. Mike was inducted into AZATA (1992), RMATA, and NATA Hall of Fames (1994) for his commitment to the Athletic Training profession. In 2014, the Michael E. Nesbitt Athletic Training Center was dedicated at Northern Arizona University. “The one story of my entire career that rates as the ultimate story is the unbelievable Assistant Athletic Trainers and Student Athletic Trainers that I was blessed to work with and their true loyalty and dedication to our profession and to the athletes whose care they were entrusted with…the legacy of the NAU Blue and Gold Athletic Trainer!” Michael is married to his wife, Karen, and has one son, Cody, and two grandsons.
