Heather Downs, ATC

Heather Downs graduated from BYU in 1991 and worked as a high school AT for 8 years, most of which was at Pleasant Grove High School. Taking a break, she owned and operated Mountains of Memories/Scrapbook Express for 18 years while still staying active in the profession and maintaining her certification.

In 2013, she returned to be with her own children at Pleasant Grove. She was a Student Advocate for 3 years, then taught in the classroom until 2022. She was able to help many students graduate and was known as Momma D there. She also enjoyed filling in for the AT when needed.

April 2022, she returned to BYU as the Sports Medicine Secretary. She loves her position as she continues to interact with the student athletes. She has become Momma H for 500+ student athletes. She uses her AT education everyday as she schedules doctor appointments, imaging, surgeries, as well as talking about injuries with the other ATs at BYU.

Heather served 19 years as RMATA Annual Clinical Symposium (ACS) Coordinator. She loved serving in her role in RMATA and getting to associate with the members, many of which have become close friends. She was awarded the RMATA Special Recognition Award in 2018.

Heather is supported in her adventures by her wonderful husband, Kent, her 6 amazing kids (3 sons, 1 son in law, 1 daughter, 3 daughter in laws), and grandson. They love spending time together, especially camping, watching sports, and traveling. She attends as many games/events as she can to support her kids, the BYU athletes, as she can.
