Dan Libera
University of Northern Colorado 1995

Well-known throughout the nation for his enthusiasm and commitment to the profession of Athletic Training, Dan Libera was an athletic trainer and educator at the University of Northern Colorado for 26 years.  The UNC Athletic Training program was established in the 1960s, but was developed into the clinical program it is today by Dan.

A founding member of the Colorado Athletic Trainers’ Association, he also held several offices in the NATA, including District Seven Research and Injury Committee, Membership  Committee, Board of Directors, and Board of Certification.  In 1995, an award bearing his name was established by the Board of Certification.  A scholarship named in his honor is provided through the Colorado Athletic Trainers’ Association, as well.

Dan was inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame in 1997.  Through his work at the University of Northern Colorado, he was able to extend his traits of dedication and service to the students who had the privilege to work with him.  We wish to continue this spirit by offering a scholarship in his name to a student in the RMATA.
