SB 24 Moves ON!
Today the Senate Appropriations Committee moved SB 24 to the Senate for second reading and debate. The vote was 6-4.
CATA Lobbyist, Charlie Hebeler, said it could be as early as NEXT Monday that SB 24 will be reviewed and voted on in the Senate.
We need ALL CATA members to do their part and contact their senator and ask for support of SB 24. (You can log onto our website www.rmata.org/cata for instructions on how to contact your senator if you are not sure.) Remind them that you are a constituent of theirs and would like to see them support an issue that will protect the public from unqualified professionals and update our obsolete exemption to the medical practice act.
If they have already said they would support our bill, a gentle reminder of their commitment would be appropriate. Just let them know that the bill has moved out of appropriations and the committee as a whole should be hearing it soon.
If they have said they would not support it, try again! Stand up for your profession and remind them that you are their constituent.
Charlie also asked that if you receive ANY responses either positive, negative or the classic “thank you for contacting me” response to please forward them along to me (Chris Mathewson).
