Today (February 3, 2009) Senate Bill 26 passed out of the Senate Business Labor and Technology Committee by a vote of 4-3. It will next be heard in the senate appropriations committee, probably sometime early next week.

Today Chris Mathewson, Christine O’Dell, Mark Adams and Jennifer Dougherty testified in support of SB 26 at the committee hearing. A special thank you to Darryl Miller and Pat Karns who took time last week to go and meet with Senator Joyce Foster to convince her to support our bill, they did a super job. She voted yes today in the committee hearing.

CATA members who’s senator is on the appropriations committee will be receiving instructions on how to contact their senator and ask for their support in the appropriations committee hearing.

Assuming we make it out of the senate appropriations committee we will need ALL CATA members to contact their senator and ask for support of SB 26. We also will be seeking letters (emails or phone calls of support) from our friends, families, professional peers asking support of SB 26. We will be providing simple instructions and details of what letters should say.

One hurdle cleared – eight more to go.
