2007 CATA SPRING NEWSLETTER
EXCELLENCE IN COLORADO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC TRAINING AWARD CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE STUDENT ATHLETIC TRAINER COMMITTEE SECONDARY SCHOOLS ATHLETIC TRAINERS COMMITTEE
Dear CATA Members I hope this newsletter finds you and yours well. I am happy to say that things are well at my house. As you will see there are many things going on for the CATA. Please review this newsletter and learn about all of the efforts that have been going on in OUR association. As the RMATA is being held in Colorado this year the state will not hold an annual spring clinical symposium. Per our association by-laws we must hold an association business meeting “in or about May”. In years past we have held our meeting while at the district meeting. Due to the physical restraints and the growing needs of the district, we will not be able hold our meeting there. As a result the board of directors has decided to hold our annual business meeting in early June. Right now the location and date are still being worked out. We should have the details to announce in the next week or two. I hope to see you at the district meeting and our annual business meeting. Sincerely, Chris Mathewson President, Colorado Athletic Trainers Association
Well we did it again! Our bill, SB 24 The athletic Trainers Practice Act, has passed successfully through the House and the Senate with bi-partisan support! We are at a CRUCIAL point! We must convince the Governor to sign this bill! We will need EVERYONE to help with this task. The bill will take a few weeks to get to the Governor's desk during this time we will be asking you to participate in a MAJOR letter writing campaign. Please look out for CATA correspondence that will give specific instruction on the Who, What & How. This information will be coming over the next week multiple times and in many forms, so please be ready! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to make this final and most important step successful! If you have any questions or concerns please contact Jenn Dougherty 303-908-6303

STUDENT ATHLETIC TRAINER COMMITTEE
We are hoping
to have the 9th Annual SAT Symposium on
June 9, 2007
at Overland High School. I have a tentative agenda, however I am struggling to
secure presenters. If you are interested in presenting please contact me as
soon as possible. I am also in need of some extra ideas for topics for future
symposiums.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS ATHLETIC TRAINERS COMMITTEE The CATA’s SSATC would like to send a reminder to all members to check the NATA website under the SSAT Committee for updated information from the career advancement network and workplace resource center.
National Athletic Training Month has come and gone. While we focused on many events for this past month, I want to encourage everyone to do their part throughout the year to do things to enhance the profession of Athletic Training to the public. The following are a list of events that took place during National Athletic Training Month.
These are the only events that were reported. Please let me know if there were others that occurred so the correct people get credit for their efforts. Thanks.
